SEASONS

Well, here we are smack-dab in __________, season.

Here you fill-in the blank. So what did you write in the blank? Here are a few I’ve thought of:

  1. Back to school, season

  2. Football, season,

  3. High Holy days, season

  4. World series, season

  5. Spring, season

  6. Hurricane, season

  7. Harvest season

  8. Presidential election, seasons

  9. Fall, season

  10. Tourist, season

The variety of seasons I’ve named have overlapping and integrated features. The priorities of different seasonal behaviors depend on one’s conditions and variables, as some seasons have priority over other seasons. Here is an example.

Think of a small family in a rural area in New England today.

Father, mother, an athleic son age 17, daughter 15 who is into music, and daughter 8 who has limited sight vision. The Father is Jewish from Vermont who went to Brown University and the mother, who has some Maori ancestry, is from Auckland, where all of her family still lives. She is a council woman in the local government. They are farmers in a town of 25,000 people within an hours drive of an urban area.

On Tuesday night, October 15, 2024, the Falmouth Soto Zen Sangha service Dharma Talk will explore the meaning of seasons from the conditions of our SNEF, or Small New England Family.

In addition we’ll intertwine the idea and actions of season, with   the teachings of Buddha nature offered as impermanence, interconnectedness, and the on-going flow of life.

Please join at the First Congregational Church of Falmouth or on Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/7096899032?status=success#success and the password is FSZS.

Palms Together,
