Practice Leader: Katsuryu Bill Cooper

Bellevue, WA


Katsuryu-san believes Buddhist teachings and meditation practices can be highly useful in modern, daily life and he is dedicated to bringing these teachings to anyone who would like to learn them.


Katsuryu Bill Cooper is a student of Taiun Elliston-Roshi in the Silent Thunder Order. He met his first Buddhist teacher, Matsuoka Roshi (who was also Taiun Roshi's teacher) in 1981 and ordained as a Zen priest by Matsuoka Roshi in 1986.


He is the Practice Leader of Bellevue Dharma. In addition he has been elected as Vice Chair of the Silent Thunder Order Board of Directors and began serving January 1, 2024.


He also brings a unique knowledge and practice in Theravada traditions having studied at Wat Atammayatarama. http://www.atamma.org/
