Our guest speaker this coming Tuesday is Avik Mukherjee
Avik is a member of the Jacksonville Sangha (Great Cloud) led by Ungan Bill Mayhew-sensei. Great Cloud Sangha and Falmouth Soto Zen Sangha have a Sangha-to-Sangha exchange program wherein members of each Sangha occasionally share their Way Finding Practice with the other.
As it turns out Avik has visited Falmouth Zen on a couple of occasions while being on the Cape. He is originally from Massachusetts, and has lived in Florida for nearly 20 years. Married and an Air Force veteran, he has worked in the corporate world since leaving the Air Force in the 1990s. He began his path of Buddhism by venturing upon it some 15 or so years ago.
“I have studied it some, since then, but am much more passionate about the practice, and sharing the teachings with others. I also have a strong affinity for the traditions from India that Buddha himself most likely associated with, or at least, was in proximity to. I have no doubt that Buddha was, mostly positively, influenced by those traditions.”
His topic:
Dealing with Emotions Considered Uncomfortable: Nature of Zen Teachings About Reality
Please join us in person at the Congregational Church On The Green or Zoom at 7:00 PM/ET 10/24/23, with Avik’s talk, followed by questions and comments at 8:00 PM/ET. All are welcome:
